Fight Human Trafficking in Colorado...upcoming events

I've been learning about more and more great organizations in and around Colorado Springs that are in the fight against slavery in our country and world today. I've met some amazing and passionate people who are choosing to stand in the gap for people on the other side of freedom.

For anyone who might come across this blog, here are some upcoming events in/around Colorado.

May 22nd at 7pm iEmpathize will be doing a show at The Loft in Old Colorado City.

May 23rd at 9 and 10:45am Gary Haugen, founder of International Justice Mission will be speaking at Cherry Hills Community Church.

July 3rd sometime in the morning, Not For Sale Colorado will have a "Free to Walk" event in City Park, Denver.

Anyone in or around Denver? This looks like a great panel discussion on human trafficking with some leading abolishionists of our day! I'm looking forward to learning from these experts and putting into to practice my heart for social justice. For more events in this area, check out the human trafficking clinic.

justice for all

This morning, like all mornings at the school, we stood for the pledge of allegiance. Normally, I say the words out of habit but today I heard something. "One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all". The pledge was written in 1892 with only a few minor revisions since then. One thing has stayed constant, "liberty and justice for all". One-hundred and eighteen years later, we still say it, knowing that we live in a world where liberty and justice are rights that not everyone is experiencing. The number today is said to be 27 million. 27 million modern-day slaves in our world today.

The number seems daunting, and it is! But with awareness, passion, determination and love for our neighbors in our community and throughout our world, each one of us can make a difference.

Tonight in Denver, CO there is an anti-slavery benefit concert put on by a local organization called Yobel. Reed Foehl will be performing at 'From the Ground up Coffee'. For those in or near the Denver area- it's a great place to start putting your compassion into action.
